Malky, NY (26) - #MALKY07
Hi, my name is Malky, I am 25 years old.  I live in a community where a lot of emphasis is placed on looks and beauty. I have a hormonal condition known as PCOS. One of the major symptoms is Hirsutism, hair on the body and face. I have been dealing with the embarrassment of this for 11 years.

  • 11 years of feeling self conscious every time I step out of the house
  • 11 years of questions and comments from little 5 year olds to married woman.
  • Boys and girls, they all want to know why I’m sprouting  a beard. what am I supposed to tell them?

Over the years I have tried many different types of hair removal options. I have waxed, did electrolysis, used creams, medications, bleach, tweezers and what not. I went to numerous doctors (before I was diagnosed with PCOS) and tried countless things. None of them helped for more then a couple of days, and then I started shaving.

In the beginning, I had to shave about once in 2 weeks but over the years it has gotten so bad that if I don’t shave it every other day I go out of my house looking like a guy who shaves.

I’m tired!

I’m tired of all those stares, the glances, the questions and the stupid remarks and comments. I’m tired of lugging around my shaving kit, creams, razors, extra blades and cotton balls. I’m tired of being afraid to go out to a party or wedding, when even after shaving there is still something noticeable.

I want this all to end.

There is only one thing left that I hadn’t tried yet. And that is Laser hair removal treatment.  Laser is the only thing that will hopefully clear me once and for all from this facial hair and from the embarrassment. But there’s a problem within the solution. Where does one get the money to pay for 3-4 sessions of laser treatment. One laser treatment session can cost anywhere between a few hundred dollars to $3,000 dollars for a permanent treatment.

My friends, we ask of you - Please join me in this quest! Donate some money, every dollar will help me look more decent and like the beautiful young LADY I can be!

Thank You and Tizku Lemitzvos!

  1. Hi Malky,

It’s nice to know someone’s in the same boat as me… I’m 20 years old and have been dealing with my hirsutism for about 6 years now. Unfortunately, laser treatments for me didn’t work, in fact, they made the problem much worse. Before any treatments i had just sort of a really dark noticeable peach fuzz and they reassured me that with no more than 6 sessions the problem would be fixed. I ended up just getting horrible pimple like bumps all over the beard area after every treatment from the hair follicles being irritated, and i’m left with scaring from that which is a pain on it’s own to try to hide with makeup. Worse still, instead of making the hair go away, it made it come back much much thicker and darker, like terminal hairs, and in places i DIDN’T previously have any hair growth. It used to be just on my neck below my chin, and now i have a lot of growth along my sideburn area and tons on my chin. I started going to a different clinic where they claimed to have better, more advanced lasers. They reassured me that what was happening was that the previous clinic’s lasers were only damaging the follicle instead of destroying it, and when your body is damaged by something it fights back, and the hair grew back darker and stronger. This made perfect sense to me…. yet their treatments didn’t work either. The new lasers were virtually painless and i didn’t experience any new hair growth, but it still wasn’t getting rid of the previous hair. I tried going at different times during different stages of hair growth and it was still futile. I had about 13 treatments by the end of it all and spent about $5000 in total, and simply could not afford to keep trying. I resort to shaving now on a daily basis, and have started experiencing what you already have. In the past year I’ve definitely noticed more growth…. so it’s something I think I’m just going to have to live with. I hope the treatments work for you though, this truly is an emotional problem to have to deal with on a daily basis.

    Best wishes,

    Joëlle
