This Fund was started only April 14 2007! The donations are from Orthodox Jewish friends and family, donated to the Orthodox Jewish women profiled on the website.

The Story…

I bumped into a friend who is a long time sufferer of PCOS and she looked drop dead gorgeous. When I asked her what the secret is, she told me ‘I lost weight, I got myself a new sheitel (wig) and I did laser on my whole face”! Luckily, this woman was able to afford it but her life changed with the treatment.

She no longer shaves twice a day, a common affliction for women who suffers from PCOS.

I decided to collect some money for my friend PurplePuzzler who I knew could benefit from this treatment as well. The response was overwhelming.

Here are some emails that I got:

“How much is the total? I’d like to have the z’chus of paying it” (3 such emails)

“I’m pledging $180, where do I mail a check to?” (2 such emails)

And sadly:

“I also need this treatment, can you add me to the fund?” (11 such letters!)

So with Siyata Dishmaya, I launched this website called PCOSfund.com with individual profiles, moderated by my friend Aviva. She will be posting profiles and updates for each new woman added to the fund.
